Yes, children are welcome on our snorkelling trips to Nusa Penida and Lembongan. During the tour, we stop at different snorkelling spots. Sometimes the sea is calm and clear, while at other times there may be smaller or bigger waves, depending on the weather and ocean conditions.
We provide life jackets, masks, and fins for all guests, including children +7 yrs. Our guides are always ready to jump into the water, showing kids around, spotting sea turtles, and pointing out colourful fish - making the experience both safe and exciting.
However, it is always the parents’ responsibility to assess whether their children are confident and strong enough swimmers to snorkel in open water.
If you prefer a calmer and more family-friendly experience, we can also tailor a private snorkelling trip to suit your family’s needs and comfort level. Please contact us with your request.
Manta Rays All Year Round - Nusa Penida
At Manta Point near Nusa Penida, manta rays can be seen year-round. While sightings are never 100% guaranteed (it’s wildlife!), the chances are high compared to many other destinations in the world.
Sea Turtles Are Common Visitors
Around Bali and especially near the Gili Islands and Lembongan, The Green Sea Turtle and the Hawksbill Turtle are frequently spotted grazing on coral reefs and seagrass beds in shallow water.
Crystal Clear Waters Around Lembongan
Nusa Lembongan is known for its exceptional water clarity, often offering visibility of 15-30 meters, perfect for first-time snorkellers and underwater photography.
Reef Depth is Perfect for Snorkellers
Around Lembongan, Nusa Penida and the Gili Islands, many reefs start just 1–3 meters below the surface, making them ideal for snorkelling rather than diving. Some snorkelling sites are calm and shallow, perfect for beginners and families, while others have stronger currents and are better suited for confident swimmers.
Best Conditions Are Usually in the Morning
Sea conditions are often calmer in the morning, which is why many Bali snorkelling trips depart early for the smoothest and safest experience.
Water Temperature is Comfortable Year-Round
Water temperatures around Bali typically range between 26–29°C (79–84°F), making snorkelling comfortable in your swimsuit. Between July and October, cooler water currents can sometimes bring even clearer visibility and occasionally larger marine species. Sea conditions vary, which makes every trip unique.
Coral Triangle Biodiversity
Indonesia lies within the “Coral Triangle,” the most biodiverse marine region on Earth. This means you may see hundreds of fish species during a single snorkelling trip.
Respecting Marine Life is Essential
Touching coral or chasing turtles and manta rays is strictly avoided. Responsible snorkelling helps protect Bali’s fragile reef ecosystems for future generations.
We always follow responsible snorkelling guidelines:
No touching / No chasing / No feeding / Keeping a respectful distance
Drift Snorkelling is Popular
In some areas around Nusa Penida and Lembongan, gentle currents allow for “drift snorkelling,” where you float along with the current while enjoying the reef beneath you.
Menjangan = Bali’s Hidden Snorkelling Gem
Menjangan Island in North-West Bali is part of West Bali National Park and offers some of the healthiest coral reefs in Bali. It’s less crowded and known for dramatic coral walls and calm waters.
The Gili Islands Have No Cars
The Gili Islands are car-free, creating a relaxed atmosphere and very clear waters - ideal for easy-access snorkelling directly from the beach with sea turtles grassing at your feet.
It’s Not Just About Snorkelling
Many snorkelling trips to Lembongan and Nusa Penida also include spectacular island scenery such as Devil’s Tears, dramatic limestone cliffs, Broken Beach and Angel’s Billabong - turning your snorkelling day into a full island adventure. Or how about adding a trip to the mangroves in a canoe?
